Bandit Labs Writeup 5

Searching. There are a number of ways to solve this one, you can use find, ls, or du for starters. I used ls becuase ls -l gives us a handy column with the exact size in bytes. so using ls -la inhere/* will sort through every directory and file, printing several bits of information as it does, including file size. Then we just grep over the input of ls for our file that is 1033 bytes. There is only one match, but we dont know what directory it's in. grep has these handy flags -A -B and -C which let you specify a number of lines before, after, or both to print out as well as the match. If we do this we can see which directory is nearest our file and so we know which directory it must be in.
